Meet Dr. Arezu Hanson D.D.S., M.Sc., F.R.C.D (C)

Dr. Hanson completed her dental training at the University of Toronto and obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2001. Prior to her Dental education, she attended York University for her undergraduate studies. At York University, she was the recipient of the Continuing Student Scholarship and the Dean’s Award for Scholastic Excellence. During her dental studies at the University of Toronto, she was the recipient of the Medical Research Council (MRC) summer research award in 1998 and in 1999 and conducted research on various dental topics during her summer breaks. During the 1999 research competition, she was awarded ADA/CDA/Dentsply best summer research prize. In 2000, while still a student, she was further recognized and awarded a Summer Emergency program grant and was hired to treat dental emergency patients at the Faculty of Dentistry Emergency Department, University of Toronto. In 2001 American Association of Endodontists Awarded her with a prize for the most outstanding graduating student in the field of Endodontics. She was also recognized as the most outstanding student in clinical Endodontics and received the 2001 George Hare Endodontic Study Club Scholarship.

Immediately Upon graduation, for the first two years, Dr. Hanson practiced general dentistry, and because of her passion for the field of Endodontics, she decided to return to the University of Toronto to complete a Master’s program in the specialty of Endodontics. In the year 2006, she graduated with a Master’s degree in Endodontics and was granted Fellowship to the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. Hanson has provided volunteer and hospital dental services in remote and underprivileged areas in Northwest regions of Canada and Northern Ontario. She has also been a continuing education lecturer.

Dr. Hanson has been in private Endodontic practice In Thorold, Ontario, since 2006. In her day-to-day practice, she strives to provide her patients with the most compassionate care in a calm environment. She takes her time to educate her patients on the source and cause of the pain and is committed to relieving her patients’ discomfort and saving their teeth.

Dr. Hanson enjoys gardening, cooking, and hiking with her family in her free time.
